(Honolulu-AP) -- The Hawaii football team remained unbeaten in Western Athletic Conference play with a 42-10 victory over Southern Methodist yesterday at Aloha Stadium. The Warriors improved to three-and-one and now have won both of their WAC contests this year.
The Mustangs remain winless in five games. Last night was their conference opener. Chad Owens caught 11 passes for a career-high 182 yards to lead Hawaii on offense.
Hawaii broke the game open in the third quarter, scoring 21 unanswered points. The defense also contributed to the scoring when in the fourth quarter Laanui Correa intercepted a pass at midfield and returned it 11 yards before pitching to Hyrum Peters who ran the ball in for the score.
