Wahine Basketball Picked To Finish Third In WAC

(Honolulu-AP) -- The Hawaii women's basketball team is being picked to finish third in the Western Athletic Conference this season. In the preseason poll of WAC coaches, Hawaii was picked to finish third behind defending champion Louisiana Tech and Rice.

Meanwhile, Hawaii's April Atuaia and Christen Roper were selected to the WAC's preseason all-conference second team. Roper is the school's all-time leader in blocked shots, while Atuaia was second on the squad last year in assists and rebounds per game.

Hawaii opens the 2002-2003 season against UCLA on November 23rd. The preseason poll was released yesterday.
